Syngenta Canada has set a 2026 Zero Hunger Challenge goal of $150,000 in combined monetary and food donations to food banks and hunger relief organizations across the country. The initiative calls on employees, customers, and partners in Canadian agriculture to take action against food insecurity — an issue that has reached historic levels, with more than two million monthly visits to food banks in Canada (HungerCount 2025, Food Banks Canada).
Taking action to tackle food insecurity in rural Canada is a priority for Syngenta. As a leader in agricultural innovation, the company recognizes the critical role Canadian agriculture plays in addressing hunger through technologies and practices that increase crop yields and quality, ensuring more food is available. Launched in 2023, the Zero Hunger Challenge reflects Syngenta's commitment to supporting communities where employees and customers live and work.
"We're challenging ourselves and the industry to make a difference. Together, we can create real impact," says Dale Kobelsky, Head of Professional Solutions for Syngenta Canada and chair of Zero Hunger Challenge steering committee.
Already in 2026, Syngenta Canada has donated $75,000 to Food Banks Canada, with many activities planned throughout the year to raise the remaining amount. The target builds on the success of 2025, when the Zero Hunger Challenge generated more than $157,000 in combined monetary and food donations. This included harvest donations from Syngenta research farms, customer events in partnership with local food banks, industry sponsorships, and employee-led food drives and fundraisers across the country.
"Last year proved what's possible when our employees, customers, and partners work together," said Kobelsky. "We exceeded our goal, and now we're ready to go even further in 2026."
